Shambala – where fresh Asian herbs connect with flavors from near and far.

Behind a humble, discreet entrance at Križevniška street next to the Križanke theatre, Shambala Restavracija – Asian Restaurant is a place of harmony. The interior merges the old thick-walled Ljubljana house with a stylish modern interior design, which shows some eastern mystique. The food follows this composition in reverse: It’s essentially Asian, incorporating modern trends and a glimpse of what we are traditionally used to. In short – it’s the eastern promises fulfilled.

What they say about themselves in Shambala Restavracija

Shambala is more than an Asian restaurant

The reason for this is probably because we prepare the best Thai curry in town, but also partly because we are masters of combining flavors. Some of our dishes are therefore authentically and traditionally Asian, while others can be called ‘fusion’ (although we don’t like this word at all, but we haven’t found a better one yet).

We take special pleasure in combining Asian dishes with wine. And we could tell you at length how Asian cuisine goes with Slovenian wines, but we know a great way to see for yourself…

Good things take time

At Shambala Restavracija – Asian Restaurant in Ljubljana, we want to offer our guests the authenticity of Asian flavors, not just compromises, so we devote special attention and a lot of time to preparing fresh blends of herbs, sauces and marinades.

MICHELIN Guide’s Point of view for Shambala Restavracija

A “hidden oasis of peace, tranquillity and joy” right in the centre of Ljubljana, just a stone’s throw from the city’s bustling riverside promenade, Shambala serves Asian cuisine amid an Asian-influenced decor that is attractive without being overly decorative. The dishes on the menu (meat, fish and seafood, and vegetarian) are inspired by countries all over Asia, from Japan to Thailand and Vietnam. The desserts feature more European options such as panna cotta, which is served with a mango and date sauce that gives it a more exotic flavour.
