Gostilna Lectar will welcome you with a beautifully decorated interior, starting with the shop selling gingerbread hearts and other souvenirs, then leading you to tables where you will be served with authentic Slovenian dishes. Don’t be surprised if slices of nicely grilled Carniolan sausage, a dollop of minced lard, and homemade salami disappear from your plate along with warm bread as if by magic. For a warm starter, we tried the well-balanced beef soup with a semolina dumpling and a hearty tomato soup. When it comes to Lectar’s soups, it’s definitely worth mentioning the mushroom soup served in a bread bowl, which has been a star staple for years, and rightfully so. While we know that not only sausages and meatballs are prepared in the Gorenjska region, we had to make sure, so part of the group opted for the grilled sea bass fillet with roasted vegetables, which was impeccably prepared, with grilled red peppers and zucchini strips dominating the vegetables. For dessert, we had Lectar’s schmarrn, sprinkled with sugar, and you can dip the pieces in three sauces – chocolate or Nutella, cranberry jam, and honey. Lectar is a distinctly homey inn with a local offering, part of which is seasonal, remaining true to the tradition of Slovenian cuisine and being a pleasant tavern oasis at the northern end of Slovenia.
