Olive oil is called liquid gold!

You will taste different varieties and flavors of olive oil.

IstraTerra tour description

We invite you on a journey through time. You will find out why olive oil is called liquid gold and for what were olives and olive oil used in the past and for what today. We will go back to the 19th century and to Tona’s house and her torkla (olive mill), modern production and processing techniques of olives and oil. We will taste different varieties and flavors of oil, potted olives and spreads which is just the start of all the delights that the Istrian oil producers have in store for the day. In the heart of the Slovenian olive production you will taste, smell and feel the sweetness and sharpness of Istrian olive oil.

Olive oil and its production have an important role to play among the tastes of Istria. We therefore start the excursion in the museum (the entrance fee is included in the excursion price), which provides an insight into the history of olive production. A visit to the farm and torkla (where olives are processed) reveals the modern processes of olive oil production. We continue our tour of Istria with a visit to the olive groves and conclude by tasting local products: olive oil, olive spread, preserved olives and other seasonal products.

The excursion is suitable as a half day or full day trip through Istria, individually, for closed groups or families with children. We can add lunch, additional tastings (truffles, Istrian wine, seasonal fruit or seasonal herbs) or customize the content for a team-building event.
