Grotta Gigante is the ideal place if you want to get out of the city or if you want to spend a day out of the ordinary.

Grotta Gigante is an excellent example of an underground karst cave, it has the largest room in the world. If you decide to visit, dress well and wear comfortable shoes. The path will take you more than 100 meters deep, the temperature in the cave is 11°C in summer and winter.

If visiting Grotta Gigante we suggest to vizit osmiza Farm Osmiza Šuc Erika and try the culinary and wine traditions of the Trieste.

BOOKING

Due to a maximum number of guests for each visit, reservation in advance is compulsory.
To make a reservation please contact our office on the numbers 040 327312 or 3891626295.
The office is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 09:30 – 12:30 and from 13:30 – 16:30.


TEMPERATURE AND CLOTHING

The temperature is a constant 11°C inside the cave.
We recommend you bring comfortable shoes (trainers etc. are perfect) since there are many steps to climb.
In summer it is best to bring a thin jacket or a jumper, since the difference in temperature can be a lot!


SMALL CHILDREN AND INFANTS

Our visitor centre is equipped with baby changing facilities.
When visiting the cave baby carriers and rucksacks are perfect to enjoy the visit with your little ones!


DISABILITIES AND MEDICAL CONDITIONS

The round trip includes 500 steps in descent and 500 steps in ascent, for this reason the cave itself unfortunately is not visitable for people suffering from motoric/walking disabilities.
Furthermore, we do not recommend the visit if you suffer from severe cardiovascular or heart conditions.
For all other questions regarding your visit please do not hesitate to get in touch and we will try our best to accommodate all our visitors as best as we can!


PHOTOS

Feel free to take photos with or without flash – apart from on the stairs descending from the cave entrance, were photos are forbidden due to safety reasons (slip hazard).


DOGS

The cave can be visited with small dogs only, these must be transported in a carrier or similar and cannot touch the bottom of the cave for hygienic and safety reasons.


WEATHER CONDITIONS

Our cave is visitable in all weather conditions! Should snow or icy conditions however make road access difficult it is advisably to contact our office in advance!


PARKING

For reservations simply contact us stating your surname, number of visitors (adults and/or children), the day and the time slot that you would like to reserve (amongst the hours proposed), we will check our availability to confirm your reservation.

In busy periods the phone lines may be heavily occupied, we excuse the inconvenience and invite you to try again, we will be happy to help you!

It is advised to reserve 2 days earlier for better availability.
